Base Course Management Qld Pty Ltd

Base Course Management Pty Ltd commenced its road profiling operations in Queensland during October 1996 with only a single Wirtgen W1000 milling machine. Queensland head office was based in Virginia and a total staff of only 2, including the State Manager.

It wasn’t until January 1997 that our first Wirtgen 1900DC arrived in Queensland taking the tally of Queensland based machines to two. Then in February 1997 a second operator and 1 supervisor joined the small but talented team at Base Course Management Pty Ltd Queensland branch.

Over the next 12 months the small operation worked tirelessly to be recognised as a “Reputable Milling Contractor”.

February 1998 saw the introduction of a third permanent milling machine in Queensland, the Wirtgen W500. A small contract with Brisbane City Council was negotiated and our reputation for experience and service was forged.

January 1999 saw the first major expansion of our Queensland operations with the awarding of our first “Preferred Supplier Contract” with the Brisbane City Council. From three road profiling machines, we now had a contract requiring a minimum 7 road profiling machines to be available at any one time for Council.

By the end of 1999 Head Office had moved to a larger building at Geebung and up to 10 permanent Wirtgen road profiling machines including the new WF1000 four tracked profiler were based in Brisbane.

From that point on the “profiling industry in Qld” knew we had arrived, we were recognised as not just another Milling Contractor, but a major Milling Contractor in Queensland. Supplier agreements with Brisbane City Council, Allens Asphalt, Pioneer Road Services, Fulton Hogan and Downer Edi were all met and most still current today.

February 2005 brought a small but significant name change. Base Course Management Pty Ltd in Queensland was now to be known as Base Course Management QLD Pty Ltd. Those three letters “QLD” gave us our own identity, still part of the Base Course Management family but now we were officially “Queenslanders”.

Base Course Management QLD Pty Ltd introduced the most modern and technically advanced milling machines into the Queensland market, something that was lacking from our competitors. We introduced the Wirtgen W500, Wirtgen WF1000 Front Loading Four Track 1.0 metre, Wirtgen W100 Front Loading Four Track 1 metre, and the latest Wirtgen W210 twin engine 2.0 metre milling machines to the Queensland market.

2009 saw the registration of our Transport division “Base Course Transport Pty Ltd”. Two new Volvo Prime Movers and Quad Trailers were purchased, enabling us to transport our own road profiling machines at anytime without relying on outside contractors to perform the moves.

By 2011 we had well and truly outgrown our facilities at Geebung, time to move. In June 2011 the mammoth task to relocate our entire operations from Geebung to a brand new much larger facility at Clontarf was achieved. A large modern workshop was set up specifically to service and maintain road profiling equipment making it easy to store parts and service the equipment efficiently.

There are many milling projects successfully completed by Base Course Management Qld including Cairns, Coolangatta, Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, Hamilton Island, Emerald, Horn Island, Oakey and Amberley Airports, The Gateway Arterial and Ipswich Motorway Duplications, and Queensland Raceway overlay where the entire surface was to be removed utilising a “Fine Milling Drum”.

From humble beginnings in 1996 to where we are today with more than 21 Road Profiling machines, Base Course Management Qld Pty Ltd is now the “Leading Milling Contractor” in Queensland.
